Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC) has provided inventive market research, expert analysis, and insightful recommendations to the top U.S. pharmaceutical and biotech companies for 30 years. HIRC was founded by a researcher from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and Stanford (SRI) in 1989 to examine the trends and implications of managed care and national accounts. HIRC researchers and client consultants possess applied industry experience, strategic insight, and keen understanding of the needs of stakeholders in the pharmaceutical marketplace.

Executive Leadership

  • Josh Mader

    Mr. Mader earned his both his Bachelors and Masters of Communication Arts and Sciences from San Diego State University. Mr. Mader has worked at Health Industries Research Companies for the past 20 years, launching syndicated studies in managed markets, access and reimbursement, care management, account management, specialty pharmacy and oncology. In addition to his role as Vice President of Market Research at HIRC, Mr. Mader serves as a Client Consultant for leading pharmaceutical companies.

Research Directors

  • Lisa Nanfra

    Ms. Nanfra earned her B.B.A. from Pace University, Lubin School of Business and her M.B.A from the University of Delaware.

    Prior to working with HIRC, Lisa spent over 20 years working in the Bio Pharma space as commercial executive successfully leading sales, national account teams, as well as marketing teams responsible for blockbuster brands within both large pharma and the Orphan biotech space. Lisa’s diverse experience in sales, marketing & commercial operations across a variety of therapeutic areas including CV/Metabolism, GI, neuroscience, oncology & anti-infectives has equipped her with a deep understanding of the macro healthcare environment as well as the challenges within it.

  • Karen Ernst

    Ms. Ernst earned her B.A. in Economics and Business from Lafayette College and her M.B.A. in Finance from Saint Joseph's University. Ms. Ernst has worked with HIRC since 2002 conducting research and providing strategic analysis for the Managed Markets Service, Best Programs Best People Service, and is the research director for HIRC's newest Organized Providers Service. 

    Prior to her employment with HIRC, Ms. Ernst had a 10-year career with IMS Health in a variety of management positions and worked on several cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Supplier Management, Finance, and New Business Development. Ms. Ernst is also a member of the Women's Board of the Bryn Mawr Hospital.

  • Danielle Snook

    Ms. Snook earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her M.B.A. with an emphasis in strategic planning from Concordia University. Prior to joining HIRC, Danielle worked closely with the executive team in a variety of business and marketing functions at Bend Research, a contract research and development company serving the pharmaceutical industry. Since joining HIRC in 2011, Danielle has conducted research for the Organized Providers, Managed Oncology, and Specialty Pharmaceuticals Services. Ms. Snook also leads all marketing and communications activities for HIRC.

  • Danielle Snook

    Ms. Snook earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her M.B.A. with an emphasis in strategic planning from Concordia University. Prior to joining HIRC, Danielle worked closely with the executive team in a variety of business and marketing functions at Bend Research, a contract research and development company serving the pharmaceutical industry. Since joining HIRC in 2011, Danielle has conducted research for the Organized Providers, Managed Oncology, and Specialty Pharmaceuticals Services.   • Raymond Co

    Dr. Co earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Arizona State University and has provided market research and consulting services around emerging trends in the US health care marketplace to various pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device firms for over 15 years. Dr. Co has directed research in a variety of areas at HIRC and has served as the Research Director for the Managed Oncology Service since 2013. Prior to joining HIRC, Dr. Co spent over 10 years as Vice President of Research and Assessment programs at The Brooks Group, a leading health care management-consulting firm. 

    Dr. Co is also an adjunct faculty member in the School of Communication at San Diego State University. His teaching and research focus include persuasive communication, organizational communication, new media, and research design.

Research Team

  • Bridgette Bangs

    Ms. Bangs graduated in 2012 from Ithaca College with a B.S. in Applied Psychology & Business, concentrating in research and psychopharmaceuticals. Ms. Bangs joined HIRC in 2013 and has since conducted research for the Best Programs Best People, Managed Markets, Organized Providers, and Managed Oncology Services. Prior to joining HIRC, Bridgette worked for numerous departments within Cornell University, including marketing and communications, and served as an intern at Cayuga Medical Center focusing on marketing, public relations, and hospital administration.

  • Genna Brown

    Ms. Brown graduated from Scripps College in 2015 with a B.A. in Psychology. She has worked with HIRC since 2015 conducting research for the Best Programs Best People, Organized Providers, and Specialty Pharmaceuticals Services. Prior to working with HIRC, Ms. Brown worked as a research assistant in a psychology lab at Scripps and as a behavioral health intern at the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center. Ms. Brown’s other research interests include: behavioral economics, public health, and social psychology.

  • Lea Halloway

    Ms. Halloway earned her B.A. in Economics from the Humboldt State University and her M.B.A. with an emphasis in business and managerial economics from Santa Clara University. Prior to joining HIRC, Lea heldvarious program and project management roles with large corporations and technology firms such as Walmart, Excite, and SGI, Inc. Since joining HIRC in 2011, Lea has conducted research for all HIRC services in addition to managing and conducting specialized custom research projects for clients. 

  • Lily Halloway

    Ms. Halloway is currently an undergraduate student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in psychology (B.S.) and minoring in Neuroscience on the path to study psychiatry. She has worked with HIRC since 2016 assisting with data collection and panelist recruitment. She is also a volunteer head coach for an under 6 year old co-ed soccer team at Charlotte independence soccer club.
